The history behind the Kodjin Data Mapper

About Kodjin Interoperability Suite

This software was created as a response to the existing market demand. There was no simple, fast, and reliable tool that we and our clients could use to map data of different formats to FHIR.

So, after creating our initial Kodjin FHIR Server and Terminology Service tools, we created the data mapping software, which is now available as a part of the suite.

FAQ

What Is a Data Mapper?

An FHIR mapper is a tool that helps healthcare organizations exchange data between different healthcare systems or data formats. The Kodjin Data Mapper is a fast, high-performance, and user-friendly low-code tool that allows users to easily transform data from one format to another, creating accurate and complete mappings between them.

Which Data Formats Does the Kodjin Data Mapper Support?

The Kodjin Data Mapper supports the following data formats: HL7v2, C-CDA, and custom proprietary formats.

What Language Does the Kodjin Data Mapper Use?

The Kodjin Data Mapper is based on the RUST programming language for speed and performance, and its data mapping templates are made on Liquid — a template language, suited for working with FHIR resources, that supports complex mappings and provides a high level of flexibility for data-processing tools.

What Are the Benefits of Using Liquid Template Language?

Here are the main benefits of Liquid for data mapping tools:

  • It’s very flexible and customizable, so users can create complex data mapping rules and make customized solutions that fit their needs.
  • Liquid templates can be saved and reused in different mapping projects. This saves time and effort by allowing users to adapt existing templates to new projects.
  • Liquid templates can be easily integrated with other systems and tools, which makes it easy to exchange data and improve workflow efficiency.
  • Liquid templates can do dynamic data mapping, which means they can map data accurately and in context. This improves the quality of the mapped data.

Overall, using Liquid in FHIR data mapping tools makes it easier to create custom solutions, reuse templates, work with other tools, and map data more accurately.
